Title: moving raspberries
Post by: gwynnethmary on April 22, 2012, 17:09:20
Is it OK to plant raspberries in a temporary position whilst preparing their permanent bed?  Someone bought me some last week as a gift and it'll be a couple of weeks before I get the key for my plot, plus I will need time to dig out the rubbish before I can plant anything!

Yes, but you might be better putting them in big pots if you plan on moving them this year... and if you leave it until the winter you might find suckers coming up in the temporary bed next year...

We bought some for our daughter from B & Q & they were tied together in a pot of compost & they were fine, it was getting on in the season too. ;D

I had to temporarily plant some, years ago, because I got the flu at the wrong time.....moved them, they were fine, but I also have a good bed of them in the temporary home...suckers I suppose....2 lots for the price of one!
