Title: Yellow leaves on sedum spectabile
Post by: caroline7758 on November 10, 2017, 13:32:11
The leaves on all my Sedum plants are going yellow. Googling has brought up contradictory advice (as usual!). Some say it's a normal part of dying back, others say they need more water or less water. What do you think?

Mine are dying back as normal for this time of year, so they have yellow leaves.

In fact after the frost of the last few nights the leaves have now gone black.

Sedum spectabile is an herbaceous perennial, it dies back in the winter, and will reappear next spring.  You could try leaving the dead seed heads to add interest to your winter garden scene, but I've pruned mine away and composted them.

you'll see your plant again next spring.

Incidentally Sedum has changed its name to Hylotelephium... (i'm sticking with Sedum though).
