Title: SMUDGING
Post by: ACE on January 29, 2020, 14:14:43
Done a bit of hoeing around the broadies. garlic and onions today. Smudging really as the weeds did not cut nicely with the hoe, not much there really but it gives me a week of grace when the weeds really get started. Plot held quite well over my absence. I usually do a bit of 'tickling' here and there but have not really done anything since early November. Once the ground dries a bit I'll start preparing the beds  properly and hope for an early spring.

That's a good word for it, Ace, I've just spent an hour with the swoe on my plot, it's just about dry enough to smudge where I want to grow potatoes this year, but not really fun to do yet. It's a good feeling to have got started, though.

I thought you might be posting to say you'd been shaking a smoking sage branch over the plot in some sort  of Wicca cleansing ritual.
