I have a mixture of edible and non edible plants in pots.
Gooseberries, Blueberries, roses etc. For the Gooseberries and roses I have in the past every winter removed the planter at the bottom and let the water run out so they don't get water logged, but is that a mistake? Should I stand them on something so the pot doesn't lose fertility?

I didn't think of that and to be honest I have never heard of them before.

Stand on pea shingle or slightly bigger pebbles. Lay out some 1"x1" strips and stand pots squarely upon them. Nail shorter strips of 1x1" across to hold these in place. Keep moist but not wet. Feed from mid feb onwards. Control slugs and watch out for Bullfinches which may nick the buds.

What do you mean by losing fertility? Yes if you drain out water, then soil nutrients will also be drained away. On the other hand if the roots get waterlogged, the plant is likely to perish. It is best to keep drained and top up with nutrients in spring when the plants are growing again. :wave:
