Title: maggots on the brocolli
Post by: Hels_Bels on August 13, 2004, 14:59:09
Hello All,

I don't have maggots in the brocolli heads, but in the roots - yuck!!! I am seriously out off by broc now, what with the caterpillars in the tops too......

Any ideas? even my very good gardening mum is stumped on this one!

Do you think it could be llinked to the kale dying off - no clubroot, I checked??? ???

Cheers

HB

Cabbage root fly, surely??

Next year, discs of card , or bought-in things, around the stems when planted out. = Tim

Can`t be any doubt, tim.  Used to sort them out by injecting Abol X/Sybol around the roots with the pressure sprayer, but anything which kills caterpillars should do used similarly.
