Title: Goldfish hiding!
Post by: gardenqueen on July 19, 2014, 10:50:08
For some reason this year I am not seeing the goldfish come to the surface when I feed them. I know they are eating because obviously the flakes are disappearing. Could this be due to the weather conditions or have they been disturbed by something?

most likely a heron has been visiting and when they see you approaching they dive for cover for safety.

Ashurjames,

Its a big, ugly thing. You can't miss one when it is standing over your pond spearing the fish.

Here are some lovely pictures of our European heron.  http://www.peterpreece.com/page5.htm
