Title: Lavender
Post by: saddad on December 05, 2019, 09:06:53
Morning was editing my photos and thought we needed something bright to cheer us all up through the darkest part of the year...
This is one of my plots at the end of June this year.. Dwarf Munstead I think, and younger Hidcote on the left hand (downhill) side as it is taller. All raised from seed by OH

The bees loved it... the Sweet Williams on the cross path did well... does anyone know if there is a "tame" form of vipers bugloss (Echium Vulgare)? The bees love that too but the plants are very variable and vigorous so didn't sit well with the Sweet Williams.

OH says so, but having my nose cauterised and the septum rebored about 30 years ago I have a relatively limited ability to enjoy it...

Sounds painful and I'm sorry your sense of smell has been affected these years. Looking at your picture I think the scent would be just a bonus as it looks stunning.

I can't agree more with you both, roll on the Solstice! However this year it is on the 22nd of December, how wrong is that!!!!

Nothing a good leap year won't sort out!

Great photo.

Love lavender and so do the bees and butterflies when it's in flower. I hope to raise some more from seed this year coming. :happy7:

All OH's work... we both formally retire in 2020... hate to think how much more she is going to grow... luckily it is a 12 acre site!

Ah retirement.......after doing “retire and return’ I’m wondering how much longer I want to continue working before I ‘retire retire’!........I’m going to be doing a 12 (in reality 13...) hour shift Christmas Day, I think that’s going to be my last with a bit of luck!

The asked Alison if she wanted to return after retirement... her answer isn't something I'm prepared to spell out on the internet, but I'm fairly certain it ended in ...off.
