Title: do you ever find yourself...
Post by: aquilegia on February 24, 2004, 11:48:43
walking past someone else's front garden, just itching to tidy it up, prune the roses, pull the weeds, etc?

Come on, it can't just be me!

It's not that I want to impose my way of doing it on anyone else, but I just can't stand seeing beautiful plants being neglected. I keep wanting to offer my neighbours my services, but I don't even have time for my own garden at the mo. Maybe I should jack in the office job and become a professional gardener!

Right with you there Aqui, just can't stop myself thinking how gorgeous all those plants would be with a little bit of tlc  ;D

Dread to think what I'll do when finally get a garden again!  Funny how the urge to keep tweaking never leaves you! ;D ;D ;D

I am a bit like that too. We must be alike  ;D

Trouble is I often cross the line and start imposing (secretly of course) my own planting/design ideas on such a garden. Like " If i was them i'd....." or "They should do such and such"  Of ten i am just critical of the design or plant arangement (or lack of)

But you are right it is a shame to see plants and gardens not fulfilling potential.

I think we all feel like that about other peoples gardens Aqui.
I wonder what they think about ours? Maybe their fingers itch too  ;D ;D ;D

my personal control freak exercise is spelling (headteacher parents!)  I can't go past a sign, whether it be a greengrocer's "tomatos" or a full size poster without the itch to get a red pen out!  You would be amazed how many spelling mistakes you can find out there - and how irritating they are!

I often find if I have had a day weeding that I become a bit obsessed and have to stop myself plucking out weeds from grass verges and at the edge of paths etc. I just have this compulsion to pull weeds out wherever they are, including peoples gardens. How mad is that? ::) busy_lizzie   :)

Okay, so this makes me odd.  Nope, I can honestly say I don't really ever get the urge to weed other peoples plots, have enough to do on my own.  :o  I do admire peeps gardens, good or bad, because even in a neglected patch a little gem could be lurking.

cannot help deadheading, and yep, oz, have planted goodness and joy in the form of a few egyptian specials (our own hybrid, we call Cleo) of cannabis in appropriate places.

Not sure but I think my next door neighbours either think I make too much work for myself or am totaly barmy lol! But are too polite to say anything of course. theirs though is well kept but boring, the colour coming mainly from bedding which is religiously changed fro spring to summer and back again, on an annual basis. Great if you like that sort of thing, and i am not criticising, its just not to my taste thats all.
