I've read a post - probably on here - about putting marigold seeds on a compost heap which contains couch grass??? Problem is I can't find the post ::)
Does anyone know....?

Often wondered which Marigolds they mean. 'Cos we have a weed problem in one part of the garden with couch grass and marigolds, Calendula officinalis that is. It certainly does not kill of the couch, nor anything else weedwise.

I thought it was the French Marigolds that were supposed to kill weeds?

And I though it was 6ft tall Mexican ones -----that don't germinate >:(
Although I'll try again this year.

Tagetes minuta is supposed to deter couch grass - but that's only something I've read somewhere.
When my compost heap gets big enough, I like growing nasturtiums on it; doesn't do much for the compost, I suppose, but it looks an awful lot better than a bit of carpet!

I'm sure it's the Mexican ones, I think the article was in KGM about five years ago, I'll have to see if I can dig it out.
