Title: Zombies
Post by: Digeroo on July 26, 2010, 09:42:56
Just come across this.  Seems a very worrying development.

I truly do not think that people realise how much this would affect them in choice of foods available and cost. This is quite scary on how much we will rely on a few suppliers.  :o

All i say is keep saving the seeds

Of course, that goes without saying. Hubbie goes to pick something, i end shouting at him "no leave it is for seeds", he looks at me strangly shakes his head and walks off. He keeps asking me what happened to the jiucy bits from the tomato's, i just shrug my head and look concerned, whilst pushing the jar of fermenting tomato seeds behing a jar of dried beans  ;)

Yes of course sharing and swapping.  Looks like this might become more than fun it will be vital.  But if someone grows some of this nearby and the bees bring in the dud genes.

What also happens if the zombie mutates and the key chemical stops working, in other words what happens if they loose the key.

Looks like we will all be eating French beans!!!  No pollinator required.

This was written in 2008 and said the ban "may be lifted". Did it happen?

It's what Monsanto have done in USA, South America and India. It allows them to control production and pricing and to put a lot of folk out of business. Ultimately they could control world food production.

Trouble is that saving seed is quite troublesome for us lottie people! I have not managed to be organised enough to get true seeded squash, melons etc. But shows that F1 seeds are probably not the way to go, even if they are disease resistant!
