Title: Cats and grass clippings
Post by: Gordonmull on July 07, 2017, 16:53:51
Hi folks, hope everyone's growing year's going well!

Most years I've been growing under netting while my plants are small, to keep my two little feline helpers from destroying....well you all know the score.

This year I had a brainwave, or at least my cheapskateness paid off. I'd always meant to use some kind of mulch with my strawberries. Now, straw costs and so does sawdust, so I though why not hay? AKA grass clippings. I mulched the strawbs and have not had one cat turd on the strawb bed.

They've been elsewhere, including a really helpful one right on top of the netting. Twice. But never on the grass clippings. I tried it on the other beds and they don't use them.

Anyone else come across this? Now I've said it, I'll go back out to the garden and there'll be a great steaming one on top of the fresh mulch, but I thought it might be worth a try for any others who have kitty troubles.
