I am looking forwards to the first cropping next year, but I noticed a few sneaky shoots coming up so I have cut them to try. I have plenty of foliage to die back into the crown and my thought was I want roots to develop not new shoots especially at this time of year. Should I leave them if more come up or take advantage of the bonus crop. They have had two seasons so far and usually I just let them grow.

Any new shoots that come up now are fair game in my opinion... they are taking energy from the roots and won't add anything back before the frosts.. so snack away!

With last winter being crazily warm ... I had some shoots for the table in December! At that time it's bad for the plant to let them grow ... so an unseasonal treat.
