This has to be one of the best bargains ever seen on this thread.

My third year on the plot and I've spent all this time swithering between spending over 100 quid on a proper shed or cobbling together some kind of storage box from pallets and you've just solved my dilemma at a stroke.

I was so pleased I also treated myself to one of their 20 quid 'midi storage sheds' for the garden.

...now I just hope they've got some left

They were saying homebase has some info on their site about misprints and how they don't have to honour prices. Hopefully we will all get them. Fingers crossed.

We have been told they are aware of a misprice and each shed should of been £189 so they will not be honouring any orders and have refunded me my money which I paid using a credit card. Maybe some of you will be lucky and best of luck but I have certainly missed out.

I did buy a 7x7 off ebay for £100 though.

I had a call from customer services yesterday they wanted postcode for allotment delivery , I asked about the price and was told £35.? no mention of wrong price so watch this space.

Since calling trading standards, I have learnt from them that it all depends on what their terms and conditions say, so in this case, as the shed has not been delivered a contract hasn't been entered into even though the money has been taken from my visa :o
Never mind eh! I am going to boycott Homebase, Sainsburys and Argos from now on in protest as I feel that they should honour the orders placed and sack the idiot that made the typing error in the first place!!

I am 6 foot 4 inches tall and was taught at an early age to stand up tall and proud! (rant over)

I went in the other weekend to find some glue to repair the vinyl floor in the kitchen and although they did try and help, they weren't any better than me looking myself as they didn't know anything about the products. I ended up going to the 'sells everything' shop in town and finding exactly what I needed (although admittidedly it was without help there either...they just seem to have everything!)

So far, I've had no phone call and as I can trace the callers on my phone I know there's been no attempt to contact me, so they'll be in breach of their own conditions if they just cancel. Also, the shed wasn't the only item I ordered -

The real mystery is what happened to the wooden midi garden storage unit for £19.99? It hasn't been re-priced, its just vanished off the website!

Well I ordered one of these only to find that the "real" price is £89 but I can have a 20% discount or a refund and a £10 voucher. Not quite the bargain I thought but still worth trying. :-\

It would be interesting to know if everyone who gets a refund also has a £10 voucher. :)

In any case, the B&Q and Wickes sheds are a lot cheaper, if the Homebase shed was only marginally more expensive it would be worth ordering it in store and using the spend and save card on 10% day.

The person I spoke to said about the £10 voucher and the 20% off. I tried to order the July special shed with the 20% and told them to take the 10 voucher off.
They said they are sending them out as a vouchers for people to use in store (both) so I guess the 20% will be off anything spent.

Imagine being given a list of people to contact to tell them all that they couldn't have what they ordered because of a glitch. I can imagine you could start off all cheery and by the 40th in a day I'd feel like saying ' and did you ever honestly think you could buy a shed for £30, I know theyre pretty low quality but come on I wasnt born yesterday you know!!'

I can imagine it would be quite soul destroying. The problem with these large organisations is that whilst you can be annoyed with the company (homebase) you know that there is no point venting any anger to the person in a call centre as the frustration will go no further than the operative.

I sent them a nice email, he best I can hope for is a £10 voucher and my money back. I'm going to get one from B&Q now in any case, but it was worth the try.

apparently there were approx 4500 ordered last weeekend, so at £10 each a whopping £45,000 typing error, it was the supplier who picked up the problem, as homebase normally sell about 3000 shed per annum!! alarm bells rang and the rest as they say is history.

I am so dissapointed for myself and all you lovely people who had ordered shed, I again appologise on my part for all the dissapointment, but a least most of us are £10.00 better off

Post by: asbean on August 04, 2008, 13:08:23: Exactly, RBT. I really didn't expect to get the shed, but it was def worth the try. The £10 voucher is a bonus (or will be when it arrives). However, they must be counting the cost. It would probably have cost them less to sell those sheds at that price (I bet a lot of people bought other things as well) than the admin cost of refunding and sending (by post) 4,500 vouchers at £10 each. The markup on the sheds must be pretty high and the lost profit a drop in the ocean. And add to that the increased numbers of visitors to the site who didn't buy, but just looked to check and then went on to buy other items - Good publicity stunt, I'd say.

And don't apologise, Lolabelle - there's no need. :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :)

One of the guys bought 10 and took them to court when they refunded the order and he lost in court.

thanks lolabelle and definately no reason to appologise - you were doing us all a good turn not your fault they got it wrong (costly error for them at that lol) at least i get to spend £10 and it wont cost me a bean lol
