we've got blackberry wine fermenting away, two demijohns both about 2/3rds full. The top 1/3 is full of bubbles, and the bubble that passes through the airlock does this about every 5-6 seconds!
Is this just great fermenting going on, or do we have a gas problem!!!
Thanks

Sounds just great to me Joolieeee, leave it like that until it settles down a shade, then top up or rack off to fill the demijohn.
Not done any blackberry this year, not had time, and have 3 gallons of rhubarb to drink . . .
Good luck,

thankx Derek - what can I top up with?
-
erm, you can use sugared water, or just decant the existing brew into a smaller space. It doesnt matter really while its fermenting, you can do this when you rack the wine off, unless you are adding sugared water, which will keep the fermentation going.
Hope this makes sense, not very good at explaining things !

You're on then Joolieee!
I took a bottle of last years blackberry, down to my plot on my 50th birthday. Had a few shots with the various neighbours. 'Never again!' they said, as I wobbled off into town for my lunch . . . ;D ;D ;D
Will be in touch via pm to sort out a tasting then . . .
Or tell me when you will be on your plot and I can wander up . . .
This sounds like fun, although there won't be much gardening done, ha ha
