I have never seen so many flashes. It was impossible to calculated the distance because the bangs and rumbles all merged into one.
And I think I somewhat over did the rain dance. Wow that was real rain.
Now heading towards Coventry.
No need to water my plot tomorrow.

Got to me in Chesterfield at 3am, unfortunately I couldn't get back to sleep, but the garden will appreciate all the rain.

Just been out in the garden to access the damage. Quite remarkable even some rather spindly brassica seedlings are standing to attention. Expected everything flattened. I think everything has grown to double the size over night especially the weeds.

Not much thunder here. Only woke up briefly. But there were many lightning flashes. Certainly watered the garden. :sunny:

Was madly planting last night so they could get watered in! As usual behind with everything so it was an opportunity not to be missed.
Slept through the event as still catching up on lost sleep!

Nothing here but I was dead to the world last night, does look like it's rained overnight though. :drunken_smilie:

It was one flash after another here with barely seconds between them. I was just going to bed when there was a loud crash, the electricity went off and it absolutely poured with rain. Fortunately, the lightening was bright enough for me to find my way around and up the stairs without the lights on.

We had good 'drop' of rain here too and the show was nice to look at..though it was quite 'tame'..luckily most of lightening happened up in the sky, no big BANGS, they are always worrying.

We drove through it yesterday - most amazing sights on the M1 heading south from Northampton sheet and fork lightening like I have never seen in this country the full moon shining brightly most of the time and heavy heavy rain which followed us to North London and continued with flashes and bangs well into this am. the roses have taken a battering but everything else looks like it appreciated the rain.

sat up and watched it with the kids there were over 2300 lightning strikes across the uk

We are having another thunderstorm with here in South Yorks at the moment but it does mean that no watering on the allotment this evening

After speaking to people, there was a big thunderstorm here, looks like I slept through it. :drunken_smilie:

We had a thunderstorm here yesterday, very heavy rain, but it only lasted about ten minutes. Bit of a let-down really!

Can't imagine how anyone could sleep through a thunderstorm! Mind you, we were in our campervan so the rain was loud enough even without the thunder!
Water butts have filled up nicely and even had mud sticking to my wellies today!
