Title: how hot is yours ?
Post by: adrianhumph on May 05, 2006, 08:35:57
Hi all,
Inside of my greenhouse yesterday reached 44 dgs C  :o, not all day but this was the top temp, 2 questions, anyone else`s hotter ?  & is this too hot ? if so what can I do about it ? OK thats 3 questions.
It is a 6 foot 6inches by 4 foot 6 inches lean too, polythene type, the polythene is very strong and has a door which was open all day plus a vent opening in the roof.

                                                              Adrian.

Bananas??

Seriously, much too hot. Almost nothing likes over 80F.

Shading & ventilation & damping down is all important.

mine hit just over 110F the other day so I'm off to get some shading. The lettuce were very unhappy.

Worried about mine as I am so poorly and can't get up to mine.  Will have to sort the shading out next week.  Doesn't seem that long ago I was stripping the shadding off and putting up bubble wrap!

I have had the same sort of maximum temperatures - but my tomato plants have shot up like Quatermass trifids!
Have now put up net shading, just to be on the safe side, but my plants seem to have revelled in the extra sunshine & warmth.
