Ive been there to Tim.

This year as an experiment; I haven't earthed mine up!! (as I think I mentioned some time ago here on the forum).

Last year and the year before I suffered from blight and due to cutting the haulms off this exposed the drills to the elements. As my soil is quite light & sandy I found the rain washed it away exposing the tubers.

This year again, I have been affected with blight and have cut the haulms off but this time , at least up to press, my potatoes are not exposed and the crop seems to be similar in size and quantity as previous years when I earthed them up.

Admittedly I have only checked my first earlies, haven't started on the 2nd earlies & maincrop yet.

So if 'blight' is to be the 'norm' in the future I guess this will be my line of attack from now on.
