Title: New friends
Post by: TrailRat on July 02, 2004, 21:22:16
Just been out and bought a new tank and 10 more mice. My girlfriend bought them for me for my birthday as an early pressie. 5 white and 5 black and white spotted, all female.

;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

In my innocence you should have checked the original author and the thread location, Val. I stand innoncent on all charges. I do have a goverment health warning, it states "this man is a total nutball and can not be trusted in matters of health, wealth or dress sense". My motto is under my avater, now does  that sound like a sane man. ;D

:P :P :P Hi to everyone except ratty, now how do you check on this board where people are? Ah..let me see follow the rat-trail, or is it the trail rat, umm Pied Piper, any Pied Pipers on board, Aha that'll flush the b....r out.

You do not stand innocent and if I get my hands on you you won't be sitting either, You did deliberately and with fore-thought and malice, write the said writ knowingly, with the intention of, to cause suffering and visual disturbance to an innocent, namely one Val, To deliberately show horror pictures without a warning...I say, without a warning, for this the accused , the aforementioned TrailRat shall stand trial and the jury will be a selected few..by Val...from A4A.

Title: Re:Recipe for Val : Rat Coffins
Post by: William O on July 05, 2004, 15:11:35
Rat Coffins (New Zealand Pasties)

      8 oz Flour
      2 oz Crisco
      2 oz Butter or margarine
           Pinch of salt
      2 tb Water, maybe 3
4 oz Finely dices RAW potato
      4 oz Ground beef
      2 oz Chopped onion
2 oz Finely diced RAW carrot
      1 oz Green peas (optional)

Sift the flour and salt. Rub in the Crisco and butter until a sandy texture
is reached.  Make a hollow in the middle and add water. Handle as little
and as lightly as possible.  Wrap in grease proof paper and refrigerate for
24 hours.  Now it's ready to use for the pasties.

Roll out pastry to approximately 1/8" thick, cut into 5" diameter rounds. I
cut around a dessert dish, moisten the filling with a little water and
place a generous spoonful in the middle of each round. Make sure it is in a
pile not flattened out.  Moisten the edges of the pastry with beaten egg.
Fold in half and flute the edges. Now stand them up so the fluting is
across the top and push with your fingers to make the join into a wavy
seam.  Brush the outside of each pastie with beaten egg and cook at 275F.
for 3/4 to 1 hour. When cooked the pastie should be nicely browned.

OOoo yum, sounds to nice for ratty, we could eat it and make him watch, Wills what is Crisco? Would that be block oil or lard?
Title: Re:New friends
Post by: William O on July 05, 2004, 15:36:51
Well Crisco appears to be a brand name (didn't know that but thats the penalty for nicking a recipe from the web) It's either vegetable oil or fat. I suppose I would double the quantity of the butter or margarine.

Ah Bless, now they are lovely, How do you manage to keep all these pets at home? We've only got one dog and her stuff is spread everywhere, toys, beds, more toys. oh yes we've got some fish, marine fish, but they don't spread themselves out much.

Well we've got two tanks for the mice and one tank for the rats, one tank for the lizard and two rabbit hutches outside. Oh and I live in a flat above a shop. ;D

Good heavens sounds like you've got a take over there, not a pet shop is it?
Title: Re:New friends
Post by: TrailRat on July 07, 2004, 13:55:20
No, not a pet shop. The landlord won't let us get a dog or cat but has no objections to the other. Oh I did forget to mention the live crickets that the lizards are fed on. Not exactly pets but ........ :)

My youngest wanted to keep stick insects when she was younger but we didn't know where to buy them or how to keep them. She really wanted a rabbit but the dog we had then would've killed it, he was a bit naughty in his younger days, he lived till 20, so had a good innings, We've had our dog now for 7 years, shes a darling, we love her to bits.

some people think i'm a little creepy because of my unusual love of pets. But hohum, I don't care. Stick insects can be be bought from any reptile store, I occasionaly get them as a treat for the Gekko. My one knows I get as food but he also sells long lifers (for an insect any way).

Doesn't matter now, she's more into music, makeup and all the other stuff that goes with teenagers. I don't think you can choose what pets you love, its part of us and someone has to take care of them...just don't let  it be me.  ;D

Ava's cousin used to keep African Land Snails!  Now they are boring pets.   Not creepy at all TR, each to their own, I mean, we have goldfish in the pond...now can we pick them up and cuddle them when we are feeling down....no...well.....daughter number one has tried on several occassions!   :o :D
