Title: Test of New Software
Post by: Admin aka Dan on February 26, 2004, 10:45:52
Please have a look at new software I am thinking of using

This new software should prove quite a bit faster - for the technically minded, this is due to it using a database to store messages.

Let me know your opinions.

Cheers

Dan

Dan,

I'm on a broadband connection and even then this new software loads the pages MUCH faster!
One thing I've noticed is that the profile pictures appear full sized and not minimised.
thanks
Ross

Oh Dan, this is where I feel the need to hide again.  Could not get into new site.  Tried registering and logging in but spat me out.  Know it's something I'm doing wrong.  Any suggestions?  ???

Your user name and password should be the same as for here, if you've forgotten your password click

Forgot password?

under the login button, this will enable you to enter your login name or email address, and email will then be sent to you !

Note that the user name / password are case sensitive.

Cheers

Dan i'd love to test the new software/site but I cant log into it. Doesnt accept my A4all login and I cant register anew because it says my email is already registered.

I was going to test the picture posting function (as per your other thread) but cant do this either.

What could be wrong?  ???

Dorset,

I've requested a email be sent to you, try to copy and paste the details into the login screen - check no spaces exist at the end of the entries.

Remember that your login name is not your 'handle' but the name you originally registered with.

Thanks for the feedback, let me know how you get on.

Dan, all my piccies seem to be be a lot bigger than 100KB. Have I got to do something with them to make them be able to be posted.
It look simple enough tho' so if I know what to do, it should be really easy!
well done

Sally,

You can use software to change the resolution of the images.  In Windows XP the default photo software can do it.

It is normally an option from Images on the menu - resize them to around 640 by 480 pixels - this is usually a good size for the internet.

Also if you do no already save then as JPEG type - this is a compressed format.

The advantage of keeping the images small for the internet is the time it takes to view them on peoples computers.

To give you an example of image size / quality if you look here

http://www.danfulton.com/a4a/a4a/index.php?board=8;action=display;threadid=1508

on the new board, those pictures are all 640 by 480, and less than 50K in size !

Hope that helps

Dan
