Title: Messed up
Post by: Jane0O0 on May 14, 2018, 21:40:41
Think I've messed up here. I've planted Cucumber, Bell Peppers and Aubergine in the grow bag but been told the Cucumber will steal the nutrients and the Aubergine will attract whitefly. I new and this is my first year of growing anything.

Three different species with different requirements, they will certainly grow at different rates but it might not mean disaster! Give the cucumber something to climb up, and it will grow vertically out of the way of the other two. Peppers I find pretty fuss free, but they like warm dry conditions, whereas the aubergine is the one likely to get red spider mite if it's too dry. Spraying the aubergine with water once a day might help the humidity around it which would put the mites off. I'd feed the lot once a week minimum as they will all do better if regularly fed, interesting to see what does the best for you!

Thanks for advice. Would a cane support the Cucumber? Thought I may have to pull them all out and put into separate containers Phew

You might as well leave them now. A single cane won't be enough for cucumbers, that fruit is heavy! Plus the other two plants will need staking too. Tie some canes together to made a stable structure that will support all three as the plants grow to 2-3' tall!
