Title: Possible pumpkin pest?
Post by: Mark S on August 01, 2011, 18:44:59
Hiya,

1st time growing, and I have now taken off any third stage growth coming off the secondaries. I have also ignored all the male flowers, and.....don't lugh, but I have my first pumpkin ever, even if it is the size of a garden pea.

However, I noticed under the leaves I have patches of black bugs. Havent seen any bugs like them on any of the other veg I'm growing, so unsure what type of bugs these are, or if I should reach for something to get rid of them.

Any ideas gratefully received....

Could you upload a picture or a link to a picture?

I noticed yesterday that I had a lady bird on nearly every leaf.  Always a good predator for those little bugs as are the lady bird larvae which dont resemble a lady bord in anyway.  Little black and yellow things with a long body
