Title: getting your oats
Post by: ACE on December 23, 2018, 07:57:08
I have taken to eating a bowl of porridge every morning, I could not stand the slimey stuff and refused to eat the muck but the jumbo rolled oats are quite nice, the claims of it helping to lower cholesterol was the main reason, true or not I do not know, but just in case I'll give it the benefit of doubt. My energy levels have definitely risen and I can do an extra hour in the garden, I also find I do not have to eat again until tea time. Another benefit is the anti acid tablets stay in the drawer after having to use 8 to 10 a day. Now that is a proper superfood.

It's a good food  to enjoy, and a great start to the day.

Indeed Ace, the oat start to the day is good. I blend in a 30% mix of (Lidl) muesli ,'no added sugar', to give a little crunch and interest. Semiskimmed  milk to cover and 100 seconds in the microwave. Perfect.

I also find that if I have a bowl of 'proper' porridge - none of this instant rubbish (minced so fine there's no fibre there) then I don't eat lunch, and have lost a stone over the last 4 months :D
Great stuff!

Agree, jumbo oats are way better than the regular 'gloopy' slime ones.
