is now the time to plant winter onions?
any favourites?
-
Possibly a 2-3 weeks early. Our lottie shop usually sells the sets when it is time and they have none in as yet.

Got my sets but am waiting for the end of Sept.. esp while we have this really good weather!
;D

I used Sen Shyu Yellow - a japanese onion. Great results with good size onions, lovely flavour and kept really well. I didn't get them in until mid-Oct last year but it didn't seem to worry them.
That was in Keighley West Yorks - land of sun and waving palm trees!
Worth a try. ;D

last year was the first year i've grown winter onions. I grew "senshu"
planted them late (November) but they still grew to about 250 grams.
this year bought and planted on 2nd September and now have about an inch of growth.
