Title: B&Q Blackcurrant
Post by: Digeroo on April 10, 2018, 19:30:30
They have bare rooted  blackcurrants for £2,  good size plants.  Pruned ready to take off well.

But they are Obejyn.   Had these before from Lidl but they not big on fruiting for me.
And Titania.  Has anyone tried these are they any good?   Seems it is a late variety which will be nice.

I bought three Titania blackcurrants last week, I thought at £2 they were good value. It seemed rather later to plant them but they are looking good.

I went back  today for a couple of bucket and had a look at the soft fruit.   I have decided to plant a hedge of currants so I thought I would have some more.  They have reduced them by half.  So blackcurrants £1, Red Currants Jonkeer van Tet £1, White currant £1.50 and grapes £2.  BARGAIN!!!

So now off to allotment to plant my hedge.   Hoping it might stop my plot neighbour walking across my plot to get to his.

Shame they hadn't  gooseberries, currants lack thorns!

They did have gooseberries - Invicta.  I have several gooseberries so did not want another.  But yes good idea.   Thorns useful.

Yeah I picked up a blackberry and a redcurrant - priced at £2 but only charged at £1 when we get to the till.  Went back but they were sold out..
