Title: oranges are not the only fruit
Post by: Mrs Ava on February 06, 2004, 00:39:25
I seem to have a late winter flush of orange taking place in my conservatory!

Wow EJ a Clivia and a bird of paradise together - loverly!!  ;D
I had a clivia for many, many years. I got it from an old neighbour of my mothers.  :) When she died it was left to me as I used to go for her shopping and  get the accumulator filled for her radio (Gosh am I really  that  old!!  :-/
She'd had the plant for forty odd years years. It finally gave up the ghost after I'd had it for over thirty years!! I wonder just how long they actually live?  ???

They are beautiful. I've never seen the Clivia before, but Bird of Paradise is amazing - really lives up to its name!

Mine isn't MB  :-[.  Wish it was - I am sadly lacking scent in the conservatory.....something I must work on.

Tim, what a great idea...I could have a lotties 4 all day trip!   ;D

Mimi, it really is worth the wait.  I have had that BoP for about ........OMG about 18 years I think, and this is only its second year in bloom!  Hell, where does the time go!?!

I am hoping desperately that this will be the year my banana palm will fruit.

Well Mimi, I don't think my BoP was truley happy until we moved house and the plant moved into our big heated conservatory.  In the 4 years we have lived here it has tripled in size!  Not to much tlc I believe is the right way to go.

Tim, part with my narna leaves, no chance, the kids love to drape their toy snakes on them and shelter under them and pretend they are in the jungle.  10 minutes of peace whilst they play nicely is priceless!   ;D

How about a Plumbago for your conservatory?  Lovely scent.

Are they the ones with the sky blue flowers Muddy?  If so, then I have fancied one for a while, but I am such a meanie and hate to spend money on plants, prefer to grow from seed, beg, borrow, or steal.  Mind you, easter is coming and chocolate is a no go so maybe I should suggest it to someone... ::)
