Senetti deep blue
« on: May 12, 2005, 12:30:45 »
Took these yesterday. The colour is so intense. As I moved the camera in close I could see an almost saturated effect through the view screen with a pinkish glare on the petals. Amazing.Wish I'd bought some of the other colours of the same plant to try out the effect on those.

Heldi, your photos made me remark tonight .... There must be a god to make something as beautiful and powerful as these flowers ... ;D

And your talent in capturing their beauty confirms this.
Thanks so much for sharing !  ;D
Enjoy today to the full.  You are not sure of a tomorrow.

Wow! What beautiful pictures. I too have this in purple and according to the label when it is in full flower there can be up to 100 blooms on the plant.

Hi all. Thanks for the comments. I was really amazed at the pink tinge.  Wonder why that happens? Tried it again today and same thing. Must be the sunlight the camera is picking up because they really are deep blue! Light refraction and all that kind of thing I didn't ever listen to at school.

I spied a deep pink one up the high street, I think I might have to buy it and see what effect that has on the camera. And enjoy the flowers aswell ofcourse!

Greenwiz, aren't they stunning! I toyed with the two tone ones then settled for the blue. It was a tough decision.

Don't know anything about them really Rox,I saw them in the garden centre and was taken with their colour so snapped a couple up!

Hi Heldi - just had a read about them this afternoon - unfortunately they are only propogated through cuttings, so apparently not available from seed.  Given I haven't seen them in these parts, I don't know if I'll be able to get ahold of some next year  :'( Oh well. I'll try and keep an eye out for them - at least there's no mistaking them!  ::)

Rox the pink one I spied was outside a florists shop. Sometimes you can find little gems in high street stores that have a few plants on sale in the street. Keep your eyes peeled and good luck!
