Rents - Council climbdown

(1/1)

LynneA:
Great news - our council has just announced that the proposed doubling of the allotments rents will not tak eplace.  Instead they will rise by 15% - same as the council tax rise.

This may be great (and the most grovelling we can expect from them) but it's still 40% in two years.

At least they know that we will fight back!

teresa:
Thats good they realize you will make a stand but the rent thing is a strange one. Will they improve any services for you with the rise in rent?

Score one for the allotmenteers!   Well done!!

Ceri:
It's our rent paying week on our self managed site week - a massive £12 for half a plot!  I was down the lotties yesterday, and one of the committee stopped me and said that at the last association meeting they decided to only charge me half for the first year as it was pretty overgrown! It was actually only covered in weeds that hoed away pretty quickly anyway, nothing compared to the horrors I've seen and read on here!  So, my little half is costing me a whole £6 this year - with lovely lottie neighbours (and my elf of course), secure fencing, running water and a pub about 10 metres away!  They sure now how to do this allotment thing in the North East!!

Beer_Belly:
What a bargain ! although I doubt I'd get much done if I had a pub that close to mine :-) -BB
