Oak Processionary Moths

(1/1)

Tulipa:
There is an article on the Daily Mail website about these OPM caterpillars which sound very unpleasant, take care if you come across them.

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-12004063/Health-warnings-toxic-hairy-caterpillars-cause-rashes-asthma-attacks.html

But I am sure that is a photo of cabbage white caterpillars!

Obelixx:
Round here we get pine and oak processionary moths and yes, that photo is wrong.

This is an article from a local paper, translated into English, presumably by Google hence the amusing "brown ass moth" -

Tulipa:
Thanks Obelixx that is an interesting article and good to see a photo of the real thing!  Worrying though the spines remain in the wood and from the way it is worded still can cause an allergic reaction!
