Alderman Peas

(1/1)

Duke Ellington:
My peas have taken off quickly at home and are now quite tall. I would have preferred them to be shorter before planting them at the allotment. Would it be ok to cut them back a couple of inches before planting them.?

Duke

saddad:
I've never done it myself, but when pigeons have savaged the top of my tall peas they have recovered and grown well (with some protection form the flying rats!)

Beersmith:
They are a very old traditional variety.  One of my uncles used to grow these many years ago when I was just a lad. About the only recollection I have is seeing some in his garden and they were tall growing.  I mean really tall, taller than my uncle in fact!

Unable to offer much advice but they are going to need plenty of support!

Tiny Clanger:
Growing Telephono which is much the same.  they do get very tall. Well worth it though. Lovely peas  :blob7:
