When I try to access the site it is picked by my software as being risky site.
I have to click to ignore this.
Seems odd, this has only just started happening.
Is there a problem with the sites security certification.?

I'm afraid I can't help with this, I think you are a lot more technically proficient than I am from previous posts.
Hopefully Dan or Nick will help or anyone else.
I haven't had a warning with Norton

I use mcAfee for security and it's been flagging the site as a potential risk for 2 or 3 days but not, perversely, just now.

The last couple of days when I have clicked on a post with unread messages I am getting a strange window come up with an advert on it, if I click exit on it it disappears and the thread I had clicked on appears.  In all the time I have been on here I have never seen that before so I wonder if there is a Gremlin somewhere.

I've had the same advert banner interfering with viewing the first post I try to read for a weeks now.
I just assumed that it was a new way the adverts appear which is the only source of income to pay for the running of the site, so something to just put up with. Irritating but easy to remove and then ignore. What I do find is that the adverts coming up now are all very vague and don't relate to anything I recognise. However, they don't have pictures of ear wax. Thank goodness, I am plagued by pictures of ear wax on the internet. Now there's nothing as satisfying as removing ear wax from someone and them being able to hear again but it's not something I want to look at every time I put the 'puter on.

Hopefully now you have reported this Tulipa Dan will get back and either sort or reassure us.

I use an ad blocker and I suspect that one of the domains serving ads has ben marked as malicious..
Just trying on a different browser and I can see the thing that Tulipa describes - but only now and then.  Maybe just on unread topics??

I have emailed Dan

Getting the same pop-up ad , with firefox and linux.mint it is usually good at blocking these annoyances. but the site has to make revenue .

Tulipa

Hi, thank you all for your replies, I am quite glad it is not just me :)

I am quite happy if it keeps the site going for us and will just click exit to get to read the posts.

Pumpkinlover I am glad I don't see the same ads as you   :happy11:

Thanks for all your help.

Question!

Are you using a Mac or a PC

I get the ads you mention on my iPad but not on my PC!

Tulipa

Admin aka Dan

Are you still receiving these?

Thanks

Tee Gee

Yes but not quite as many. When I open the site I get the home page, then when I click on a link to open up a section on the site I get a big banner ad which I cancel and all is OK after that.

BTW this is still only on my iPad and not my PC

I think the ad blocker I have on my PC is better than the one on my iPad.

Hope that helps!

If I use edge without any blockers I get a google Vignette Ad when I first click on a link on the homepage..

I get the same ad but never used to.   I must admit because of all these nuisance ads I do not go on to the site as much as I used to.   I have been a member for a number of years and have always found the site very useful and pleasant but these ads have put me off a lot - shame.

I have been getting them recently I just exit it and its goes

Haven't seen the warning for ages now.  I do have AdBlockPlus and I use a PC with Chrome.  Refuse to use Microsoft Edge on principle.

I get an ad as soon as I click on looking at a posting, or if I click on 'mark as read'.   Annoying, but used to it now!  Noting to do with gardening.
