Yes, received mine on Saturday to my surprise.

Spent a happy evening browsing. Chose Batun onion, Darby striped tomato, Magnum Bonum pea, Rainbow Inca sweetcorn and Afghan Purple carrot.

What delights did you go for?

Trail of tears again... always end up giving them away... thinking I've saved some (always do) but then find have given them all away!
Bronze arrow lettuce, Soror Sarek sweet pepper, Kelper swede, Beltony Blue pea and Peacevine cherry tomato.
May have to look at the online seed catalogues now...

I did not receive and email about this so thanks for the head up.

I have gone for beans
French bean   Angel
French bean   Cherokee Trail of Tears
French bean   O'Driscoll
French bean   Percy Parker
French bean   Shirokostruczkovnia
French bean   Striped Bunch

I lost most of my stocks of beans to a mouse, so I am gradually getting back.
Trail of tears is perfect for growing up sweet corn because not to big or heavy
O Driscoll is  my favourite bean for fresh shelling, ie eating like a broad bean.  What the Americans call a shellie.  They are lovely.

Angel I liked the  colour of the flower.
I am confused by Shirokostruczkovnia It is called dwarf but the picture shows a trelllice.

Sorry to hear of the mouse and your beans Digeroo :(
Fresh shelling beans is something I must try next year. Hope you get a good crop!

I chose:
Avon Early beetroot
Angel CFB
Mayor of Leicester pea
Nutting's Barnet Hero pea
Blackpod runner bean
Gul Svensk swede

I was also attracted to the reddish flower of Angel - rare in French beans. It otherwise looks extremely similar to Monstrance beans.

Do try Shellies: fresh shelled beans, not dried.  It takes a bit of tme to discover the best time to pick them.  Too soon and the beans are rather small and not much flavour, and too late and they are tough and floury.   O'Driscoll are for me the best.  Big, soft and sweet, a bit like a frozen soya bean but so much better.  They only need cooking for a few moments.
I think the HSL write up about Angel says that it is the Monstrance bean.

Also love shellies.  We had some from the freezer a couple of night's ago.  Into the frying pan, after the meat was taken out, with a drop of water, some tomatoes also from the freezer and a couple of tablespoons of barbeque sauce.  Boiled for 15 minutes until the sauce was nice and thick, then just put the meat on top to reheat.  Tasted absolutely divine.  They also go so well in soups.  Can't have enough fresh shelled beans in the freezer.

The 10 odriscoll beans from HSL will be a great start.  But I will not have many spare beans until the following years.  It will be nice to have a row of them again.  I do not know why you can buy fresh shelled soya beans which do not grow well in this country, when the Climbing French beans grow here like weeds and can taste even better.

Mine were despatched exactly a week ago. Still not arrived. Second class mail getting caught in Christmas rush presumably.
