Broad beans - can I dig up and replant
« on: May 22, 2020, 20:30:45 »
Only about 25% of my broad beans have germinated.  I want to make better use of the bed so can I dig up and replant some so I can at least end up with a couple of complete short rows rather than the current patchwork.  They’re about 10” tall.  Many thanks for all the advice.

That's a bit big, presumably they are flowering and have pods developing. If you can get most of the root ball, it would probably work (you are effectively planting out a potted plant). Why not grow lettuce, radishes or other salads in the gaps and be able to clear them all out together when the beans finish?

Thanks...that makes a lot of sense.  I'll do that.
