Salsify was my first thought too.  What would clinch it is watching the flowers, they close in the afternoon  :wave:

Hi Ya, I think salsify is the answer. I wonder where it came from. The flowers close up due to lack of sunshine and I think someone grew it as I've been told it attracts bees by the score as they love it. Edible as well so I may leave a few to grow. Thanks to you

It is quite a re-seeder so if you don't want hundreds of new plants you need to remove the spent flowers. They are almost impossible to eradicate once they have got a foothold. Pretty though. :happy7:
