Foxgloves in hanging baskets
« on: April 21, 2020, 09:52:13 »
I like Foxgloves but (I don't think this a problem but family would) people are often concerned about them poisoning children, so I would like to grow them in hanging baskets - is this possible?

Claim 'Grandfather rights'.
These extend to :(and are not limited to)
A) "NO! dont touch"
B) "Leave the b***** things alone!"

Apply to all circumstances.

Children learn very early not to eat what they find outside.

If you are worried, start digging up your daffodils!

I thought that only daffodil bulbs were poisonous?

I believe that all parts are poisonous but the bulbs are the most toxic.

Indeed you are correct. Its why the celtic Welsh ("ancient Britons") cultivated them , so as to poison their arrow heads, while fighting off the Angles etc, it is alleged.

Just grow foxgloves - and anything else - in the ground and train the grandchildren not to touch without asking first.  same for any plant that has red berries.

Education is what they need, not cossetting.

Privet berry poisoning does though... so rip out all the privet hedges... and don't even consider a laburnum within 10 miles of children!
