Moderators :. Action please
« on: October 30, 2019, 20:50:50 »
Viagra is legitimate product, available from pharmacies both on and off prescription.

But isn't this a forum for the discussion of all things allotment related?

I do object strongly to attempts to highjack the site for free advertising. Action please moderators.

I do object strongly to attempts to highjack the site for free advertising. Action please moderators.

Just for info in the 30 odd mins it has taken me to get to work there are 4 more spammers that have tried to register which makes 286,316 in total that have been blocked/rejected since the filter was installed.
Some get through if they aren't on the Stop Forum Spam listings so there will always be a bit of spam - although quite why they seem so intent on posting here is a bit of a mystery!
Just click on the Report to moderator link and it will broadcast the The Batsignal

And a bit more information in that some are being picked up and removed very quickly before you get to see them.  We can see what other moderators have removed.
The active mods are checking as often as possible, but sometimes they sneak in. These scammers are based all over the world and are also on different time zones to us.
Believe you only see the tip of the iceberg!

A lot of the spam generators are IT robots that just churn away generating posts all over everywhere 24/7 to see where they get in.   Inevitable that some will get thru so thank you mods for your vigilance.

My sincere apologies to the moderators if my comment seemed harsh.

I do appreciate your hard work, and fully understand your efforts in eliminating spam and other nuisance activity on the site. No criticism was intended and I offer my full and unreserved apologies.

No offence taken. How about pints all-round?
I think I can say that we are all pretty p****d off with the spammers.

It is a forever battle for every forum / comment website in the world!

The number of spammers stopped before getting anywhere near the site is phenomenal, and if they do get through they are dealt with very quickly by our volunteer admins.

When they do get through though - it is very annoying!

Out of interest was the site down completwely for a while yesterday? I wondered if there had been another Denial of Service attack.

Yes, the site was down for a spot of maintenance yesterday, Dan was in polishing the mechanism!

Your posts were perhaps around the outage time and lost in the system?

I thoroughly agree beersmith, and would like to reassure you that the mods here do take action, although we are not on the site 24/7 and as mentioned in the thread some things do get in for a short time.

Lol, at the Batsignal  :happy7: it does work. Yes if anyone spots something, clicking on the Report to moderator link in that post will highlight the post to mods and Admin, it's a real help.
