« on: June 27, 2019, 11:09:06 »
Just taken a bite out of a black radish. Kinell!  Bit different from the red ones aint they. Free packet of seeds, thought I would give them a try. They will not be on next years list.

I always thought Black varieties were a "winter" crop see here;

Although I did try them as a winter crop and like you, I didn't rate them very highly but I can recommend " Mooli" in its place!

Winter that make sense, just hold them as hand warmers.

Is it a "Winter Radish"? Black Spanish round? They are good grated into salads at this time of year but I wouldn't dream of eating one like a "normal" radish such as French Breakfast. They are excellent as winter root vegetable, they boil like swede or turnip and lose most of the heat, but bulk up stews or hang around on roasts....  :wave:
