Hello all. I've inherited this garden and came across these protruding buds. Does anyone know what they are. Many thanks

Can't tell at the moment, but in a few days when the buds start to open it should become clear!

I think peony too.  They come up like that in our first garden in 1983 and have been called rhubarb ever since, tho we know better now.
