David Austin has passed away. A great plantsman unsurpassed in the cultivation of roses which many of us have in our gardens and he always championed fragrance over just nice looking blooms.
I Hope his son will carry on as his father before him.

Oh ! That is such sad news ...a real gentleman ...oh and to think how devoted he has been to our most loved flower , the rose ...... and all the wonderful and fragrant roses he created to make the world a more beautiful place . He will be sadly missed . His family will be in my thoughts and prayers .  Debbie

He was a true master of his craft.

We have several of his roses. My favourite "The generous gardener".
Not mad, just out to mulch!

Indeed sad news.  I love my Winchester Cathedral rose and its rich fragrance.  And there are so many many roses that he created.  RIP and thank you.
