....only a thought!.......Could the subject matter "Beasties, creepy-crawlies and insects" be off putting.

I wouldn't have thought many people would take pictures of such subjects.

A few replies might give us an idea.

Well the subject can be interpreted in a broad sense … some animals are known as beasts for example... slugs to spiders....  crabs to snakes and of course all the usual bees, wasps, greenflies, ladybirds etc.

Sorry if subject isn't sufficiently inspiring! I just find that looking around the garden and veg patch, nature has so much to amaze us, including insects etc. Much of it beautiful, much of it extraordinary.
I've been away, but will send in an entry tomorrow.

Personally I think it is a good subject but then I like taking pics of butterflies, spiders and other assorted creatures..
Having run quite a few of these I can honestly say that you can never please everyone and it is really hard to get people to take part. However if we can run them regularly then perhaps the topic should be picked in advance so as to encourage people to get out taking pics.
Moved to Portugal - ain't going back!

A couple more entries would be welcome

See the top post on how to submit.

How do people feel if I use more than one entry from the same person?

OK by me  but I can't see the point if only two or three people are placing entries as it basically means they are competing against there own work, but. I will go with the majority!

OK by me too, but it wold be best of all to have more people entering!  These days, with smart phones, it is so easy to take photos, and it is a good season for the subject.  A beautiful snail  on a leaf, spiders webs galore, i see them every time I go in the garden.
Encouragement to everyone!

OK by me too but no time to take pics today and, as the drought continues, the interesting critters appear to be lying low anyway.

Hi Dave

Just a little point! ( my past exhibiting experience coming out)

In  any form of competition I prefer to remain anonymous until the results are issued but don't know about the others perhaps they could let us know their thoughts!

Another thing I prefer to do is only enter one exhibit in any class as too often I have seen too many people put more than one entry in a class only to try and win points to get most points in the show. I once saw an exhibitor win most points in a show yet did not register a win in any class!

OK in this competition this this will not apply unless we go ahead and allow more than one entry, and as I have said previously I don't mind in this case!

The next thing I am expecting is people asking for more than one vote (as has happened in the past) which personally I don't like. As I see it there can only be one winner!

In the past I have always placed one entry, voted once, and never voted for my own photo.

However I will go along with the majority what ever we decide here, after all this exercise / competition is just for a bit of fun, but as always people who enter always want to win (myself included) so lets see how this first batch of photos fair, then we can look to see if we need any rule changes.

Hope these comments do not offend anyone as this is the last thing I want to do!....Tg
