Anyone work for the land registry?
« on: June 25, 2018, 17:37:09 »
Just letting off steam really. As mentioned before, our house sale and purchase has been delayed because we've had to buy a piece of land from our neighbour to satisfy our buyer. This has taken nearly three months and we are still waiting for the neighbour's mortgage lender to send the discharge document to his solicitor. Our buyer refuses to proceed with the sale until our name is on the title for the land and the Land Registry site says the average time for this process is 54 working days (another 3 months!). Our solicitor has asked the LR to expedite it because the house sale depends on it, but there's no guarantee they will. It's so frustrating. So if anyone out there works for LR and could put our job to the top of the pile, let me know!At least the people we're buying from are in no rush because they are doing up a wreck, though they could probably do with the money from the sale! Mind you, apparently their solicitors haven't yet answered some questions sent by our solicitor in May, so we might end up waiting for them!  :BangHead: :BangHead: :BangHead:

So, today we have heard that our buyer (yes, the one insisting on waiting for the Land registry) has pulled out of the sale, so the house we were after is back on the market and so is ours. :BangHead: :BangHead: :BangHead: We've got three people coming to view in the next few days so fingers crossed we get a buyer before we lose the house we want.

In the end, the land registry process was very quick- the day after our buyer withdrew (see previous post), we heard that the LR process  was complete. So at least it's all clear if/when we get another buyer, even if it has cost us nearly £6000!

Hope that this was the only big difficulty Caroline and that you have lots of interest fast and don't lose on the house you want.  There is a reason why house moving ranks so high on the stress list.  Just sorry you had the rough end of that.  Hope all goes right from now on.

It sound monsterous that someone should insist you buy a piece of land and then pull out.

I don't understand why they couldn't just buy the land themselves instead of incurring extra paperwork and delays.   I'd be hexing them uphill and down dale and all day long.

Good luck with the next lot of viewings.  May you find a sensible offer.

Thanks for taking an interest in my sorry tale! We have had a few more viewings but no offers. We've now decided to take on a short-term mortgage so that we can move and get our new life started(luckily we're in a position to do that). if we don't get a buyer in the next few months we'll have to think about renting the house out but we don't really want to get into that!
