So it's a weed?when we move I really must try to make a note of what's where in the garden!

Not really - unless your don't want it.   It's nowhere as invasive or as tough as the plain, weed version and it can easily be controlled by pulling it up.  I had it in my last garden and it looked lovely in spring mingled with geranium macrorhizum Ingwerson's Variety and forget-me-knots.  It has pretty white flowers which you can easily remove before they seed.
