Most orchids have very course potting media ie bark perlite sphagnum moss, the roots need air as like air plants, so the compost would be very loose an very free draining, you could use it as a mulch.
Most orchids grow on trees and rocks.  :coffee2:
Spring has arrived I am so excited I have wet my PLANTS

That would be some very expensive mulch if you used it as such. I guess you didn't pay for it, but I think I would just branch out into growing orchids. If not it would give you some excellent bartering power with somebody who does grow orchids!
