Seen pictures of the mangetout Spring blush.
It looks like a must have.

The 'blush' is way exaggerated, but yes it is an excellent pea.  Strong plants that need tall stakes.  I am glad that this and a couple of other Dr Alan Kapuler bred snap peas (Opal Creek and Sugar Magnolia) seem to have made it into British catalogues this year, because they are a cut above the rest, but I am angry that the breeder is not even  mentioned by name.

This is more representative of what I get colour wise:  http://www.burpee.com/vegetables/peas/pea-spring-blush-prod500124.html

Have you noticed the crazy tendrils?

I like anything nice and tall.  Site very windy so I have peas right down the windward side.

I have just done an order from Bakers Creek and I did not spot them.  They certainly mention the breeder.  Though they seem to be available from Dobies.  Dr Alan Kapuler  is from Oregon so presume his breeding will possibly do well here as well.

They all do extremely well here.  But they are not the earliest peas.  In fact Opal Creek was extensively trialled in Hawaii and did well there too.  What this means for us is that Opal Creek goes on into hotter summer weather for longer than ordinary peas.  Plants of Distinction has them and other Kapuler peas.  And other seed companies as well this year.  We had 4 Kapuler varieties swapped in the seed circle so far.   For earliest peas however you might still want to grow a mangetout variety in addition to these snap peas.

The hypertendrils definitely help the plants cling to each other better than ordinary tendrils.  But they will still need support.  However far less tying up is needed as the tendrils cling to anything that stands still long enough  :happy7:  Should be a bonus on your site.
