Peas
« on: June 22, 2017, 12:45:17 »
Is it too late to sow peas? (Nairobi snap peas, to be precise!) I've not grown them for years, but seem to recall they didn't grow well from later sowings. I live in the South East.
gone to pot :D

I think you can grow peas till July HOWEVER you do need to check the variety your sewing.

Most peas don't like it too dry... hence they tend not to do as well from later sowings..

I've some peas I'm planning on sowing this week. I've not grown 'Nairobi' but I googled the name out of interest and they seem to have good resistance to powdery mildew, which is the usual problem here for later sown peas. Plus they can be sown to the end of June. You should get a good crop from them, just not so great as earlier sown.
