White flowers
« on: May 23, 2017, 21:32:01 »
Bought this from Morrisons, to plant near the wall to stop people jumping over, and it has nasty thorns, but this is the first year it has flowered.  Hopefully it will have red berries later on (that is one reason why I bought it), which the birds will like, not too good with the cat. The bees seem to like the flowers, wish I had kept the ticket, OH keeps moaning about it as every time he opens the back gate the bush gets him.  Actually I do agree with him as the thorns are vicious.

Very nice pyracanthus. The common name being fire thorn as you have found out.

The berries give interest for a long time in winter as well as the spring blossom.

Lucky you! :happy7:

Thanks for that info.  Looking forward to the berries, as this is the first year it has flowered, but do have to be careful of the thorns.
