Topic: chitted potatoes

Took chitted spuds down to alloment yesterday but what, with one thing and another, didn't get them planted. Put them in a cold frame but neighbouring plot  neighbour advised to cover with black plastic inside cold frame (rats and mice around). I can see the point of the cold frame to protect but black plastic or open to sunlight? What do you think?

If there are rats and mice about I doubt that a bit of black plastic would deter them much!  They'll probably feel safer under there than out in the open.  I've left my chitted spuds out in the open on the plot for a couple of nights when I didn't get around to planting them before and they were fine even though a couple had been nibbled.

Depending on where you are in the country I'd be more worried about frost getting them in the next couple of nights!
