Plants looking good
« on: April 05, 2017, 18:47:27 »
We went away for a couple of weeks and instead of using the automatic watering which went wrong last time I used a big bowl of water and an old towel. Stood everything on the towel and it all survived, just peas, brassica seedlings and tomatoes. The rest of the seeds can now be planted now I am back. I have not been to the allotment yet but there was only the first early spuds to worry about but there has not been a frost down this way so they should be alright, I did cover them with builders netting anyway.

Well what a surprise, after three years the asparagus is ready to crop. Got loads this morning, so a good watering and there will be loads again tomorrow. Spuds  are fine, turnips, carrots, beetroot and parsnips all showing enough to make out where the rows are. Purple sprouting still sprouting and leeks big enough to use. It's going to be a good year.
