Earthing up carrots
« on: August 28, 2016, 20:14:14 »
Most of my carrots, growing in dustbins , have quite a lot of top showing and some are getting nibbled. . I've done a quick search and found that it's ok to earth them up, but does it matter how much of the leaves are buried?

I earth mine up so the carrot itself is covered but no more so possibly half an inch or so. This is not so much to make life harder for carrot fly since all the carrots are grown under debris netting. It's more to prevent green shoulders on them. :happy7:
