Melon flowers
« on: August 15, 2016, 09:03:20 »
Does anyone know how to encourage female melon flowers to appear.

It's mid August and my six melon plants are covered in dozens male flowers and not a single female in sight.

This isn't about hand fertilising when you do have females, it's about not having any females!

I an going to pinch all the tips off two of the plants, half the tips of two more and leave the other two to nature as an experiment.

Hi planet earth, I found that mine had a flush of males first and only once they were done did the females appear. So I think it's just a question of getting through this stage.
I'm growing Ogden and sugar baby and jelly melons and all three have done this but now have lots of fruit formed.
Fingers crossed that you get some little melons forming soon. X sunloving
