What grows in shade?

I wonder if anyone could help me please. What edible crops could I grow in containers on a verandah which only has direct sun for about an hour in the evening? Would it be possible to grow runner beans this way?

thanks for the question and the answer!
its something i have been wondering too-our side(which is our back garden) faces eats ish and will get morning only sun-luckil the front faces south so i shall put my herbs there i think-but everything else will have to take its chances... ;D
